Marin County Parks is hosting a community workshop to review proposed trail improvements projects in the Cascade Canyon open Space Preserve:
1.Proposed project to install up to two multiuse bridges, remove recreational trail use from the banks of San Anselmo Creek, and restore spawning habitat for the federally list steelhead.
2.Proposed decommission and rehabilitation of the Happersberger Trail.
More information about the workshop can be found on the Road and Trail System Designation webpage.
Join One Tam to improve various trails in the Phoenix Lake vicinity. Brushing is a priority back in this shady canyon. We will also perform tread maintenance and improve water drainage.
The gate at Natalie Coffin Greene Park will be open to allow you to drive up the dirt road and park at the lot next to Phoenix Lake dam. The gate will be closed and locked at 9:00 a.m. sharp!
Please note the changed start time, for this meeting only.
Join us to participate in California Coastal Cleanup Day, the premier volunteer event focused on the marine environment in the country. Check the updated calendar at our website in August for location and details.
The agenda, staff report, and other meeting documents will be made available online at least 72 hours prior to the meeting through the County of Marin Calendar.

Join County Parks for its monthly drop in volunteer workday as we focus on restoring the grasslands of Ring Mountain! This preserve is home to numerous rare and endangered plants, but the habitat is threatened by invasive species. This month there may be some opportunities to remove invasive weeds, but our main task will be to get our hands dirty rolling small balls of mud and native seeds to plant later in restoration areas. Educational components are included as we discuss the flowers and plants in the seed mix, as well as projects to restore habitat at Ring Mountain. Drop in any time and stay as long as you want! Drop in days are held on the last Saturday of every month (except November and December). All skill levels are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. It is possible for volunteers as young as 5 years old to join if teamed with a parent or guardian. Dress in layers you can get dirty, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water. Please bring gloves if you have them. Snacks and extra water will be provided. High fire danger cancels: Call (415) 473-7191 to get an update on fire danger status and land closures. If a “Red Flag” warning is in effect, all walks and events on Open Space District preserves are cancelled. RSVP’s are appreciated but not required. Questions or to RSVP: Contact Ring Mountain Stewardship Coordinator Sarah Minnick at SMinnick@marincounty.org or (415) 473-5058. Meet at the Phyllis Ellman trailhead on Paradise Dr in Corte Madera. DIRECTIONS: From Hwy 101 in Corte Madera, take the exit for Tamalpais Dr east. Go straight onto San Clemente, which merges into Paradise Dr after 0.4 miles. Follow Paradise Dr approximately 1 mile (go past Westward Dr). The gate is on the right.

Friday the 28th is focused on engaging natural resource managers and the scientific community, but it is open to members of the public as well.
Saturday the 29th especially reaches out to conservation and recreation groups, teachers, and other interested community members with short, focused “lightening” talks, and an interactive panel discussion about the essential role the public plays in caring for Mt. Tam.
Learn about the condition of Mt. Tam’s plants, animals, and natural processes. See where the critical data gaps lie, and what might be done to fill them.
Contact Michela (mgentile@parksconservancy.org) or check One Tam’s website www.onetam.org/calendar for more information.
Registration will open August 15.
