Marin County Parks is hosting a community workshop to review proposed trail improvements projects in the Cascade Canyon open Space Preserve:
1.Proposed project to install up to two multiuse bridges, remove recreational trail use from the banks of San Anselmo Creek, and restore spawning habitat for the federally list steelhead.
2.Proposed decommission and rehabilitation of the Happersberger Trail.

Join One Tam to improve various trails in the Phoenix Lake vicinity. Brushing is a priority back in this shady canyon. We will also perform tread maintenance and improve water drainage.
The gate at Natalie Coffin Greene Park will be open to allow you to drive up the dirt road and park at the lot next to Phoenix Lake dam. The gate will be closed and locked at 9:00 a.m. sharp!

Be a part of a community based effort to install a diverse palette of native plants at a site once dominated by nonnative grasses and weeds. Volunteer work is mildly strenuous and involves bending, pulling, and kneeling and hiking on steep and uneven terrain. All ages are welcome; anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Dress in layers you can get dirty, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water. Snacks will be provided. This month there may be some opportunities to remove invasive weeds, but our main task will be to get our hands dirty rolling small balls of mud and native seeds to plant later in restoration areas. Educational components are included as we discuss the flowers and plants in the seed mix, as well as projects to restore habitat at Ring Mountain. Drop in any time and stay as long as you want! Drop in days are held on the last Saturday of every month (except November and December). All skill levels are welcome and no previous experience is necessary. It is possible for volunteers as young as 5 years old to join if teamed with a parent or guardian. Dress in layers you can get dirty, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water.
