One Tam and Mill Valley Recreation are partnering on a first of its kind celebration of Mt. Tamalpais. One Tam was formed in partnership with county, state, and federal land managers and the non-profit Parks Conservancy to support the long-term health of Mt. Tamalpais.
The “Celebrate Mt. Tam” weekend includes walks, talks, art, music, and a family-friendly festival with more than 30 organizations that help protect and care for the mountain. Events take place on Mt. Tamalpais and at the Mill Valley Community Center.
On Sunday, come for a day of family-friendly fun and activities at the Mill Valley Community Center! Some samples of activities include bird nest making, dot art, bag decoration, jewelry making, and more!
You’ll also enjoy food trucks, live music, and the chance to interact in fun ways with the amazing organizations that are working to care for Mt. Tam.

Marin County Open Space District is holding this workshop to review roads and trail in Region 2, which includes the following preserves in our watershed: Loma Alta, White Hill, and Cascade Canyon. This is our opportunity to speak up for projects like decommissioning poorly sited roads and trails, narrowing roads to form trails,and moving trails away from creeks.

During times of severe drought, we should all be considering affordable and innovative ways to conserve water by adhering to the motto, ‘Slow it, Spread it, Sink it’! Learn how to plant a rain garden and install a basic rainwater harvesting system.

Join MCOSD for its monthly volunteer workday as we focus on restoring the grasslands of Ring Mountain! This Halloween, we will spend a few hours “treating” our trails to some much-needed repair work. Keeping our trails in good shape is an important part of protecting Ring Mountain’s sensitive grassland habitat. Many rare plants grow along the trails, and by repairing trail tread and keeping water off the trail, we reduce the chance that people will need to walk off the trail to avoid muddy or difficult areas. No previous trail experience is necessary. Costumes are encouraged and spooky tales of bats, owls, and other wild creatures of the night are welcome! This work requires moderate strength and stamina, including working with heavy tools and hiking on steep and uneven terrain. This work is recommended for ages 12 and up; anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a supervising adult. Dress in layers you can get dirty, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water.
